Neighborhood

Revitalization

The majority of homes in the Cody Rouge community are brick bungalows, built in the 1940's. It is not unusual for older homes to begin to have issues due to settlement, and these can be exacerbated in cases where maintenance was deferred or when a property became neglected.

Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance works to ensure a high quality of life in our neighborhoods by helping residents access resources for critical home repairs (such as electrical and furnace replacement), porch repairs, and upgrades for elders (such as wheelchair ramps and grab bars).

We know that the condition of surrounding properties influences a homeowner’s attitude toward their own house.  We want to ensure that every resident feels proud to call this area home and to continue to attract new residents.

Cody Rouge Tech Hub

With our proven knowledge of community needs and with the lack of technology resources, we are perfectly situated to begin to meet the needs of residents that have a need for direct access. We are demonstrating this further by offering the following:

One on One Assistance:

Tuesday’s from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Computer Lab (Drop-In):

Wednesday’s from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon,

 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Computer Classes:

Tuesday evenings, and Saturday mornings.

The tech hub provides multiple access points for the community to fulfill their needs with these opportunities.

Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance HOPE Program

The CRCAA HOPE Team assists residents with completing applications for the City of Detroit Property Tax Exemption granted by the Board of Review. The year long program is supported by the Rocket Fund. Residents also receive counseling and referral services for various home related needs.

0% Interest Home Loan Repair Program

In partnership with the City of Detroit, CRCAA serves as an intake center for the 0% Interest Home Repair Loan Program.  This program was launched in April 2015 and offers 10-year, interest free loans that range from $5,000 to $25,000. This program is designed to help low to moderate income Detroit homeowners invest in and repair their homes – promoting public health and safety, increasing property values and helping residents secure and maintain homeowner’s insurance.

Visit Detroithomeloans.org for additional details regarding qualifying components to apply and what type of repairs are covered under this program OR contact our offices at 313.397.9280 or email rbare@codyrouge.org.
